During Summer 2012, ESCA offered an intensive 2 week job readiness boot camp for teenagers.  They learned how to find jobs, interview correctly, how to write resumes and even toured local businesses!

Easter Seals Central Alabama has a job placement service that works with job-ready individuals to place them into jobs in the community. We employ full-time job development specialists that help our consumers find employment and to assist employers in meeting manpower needs.

Whether it is someone looking for a first time job or re-entering the workforce, or it is an entry level or professional position, care is taken to develop a good match between the new employee and employer to ensure a "win-win" relationship. Placement specialists continue to provide follow-up and consultation as needed to increase job retention.

Employers may be eligible for tax credits if they hire Easter Seals consumers. On-the-job training is also offered as an option. Job readiness skills such as resume writing, interviewing, and job seeking are taught prior to beginning a job search. Placement Specialists continue to work closely with those consumers placed in jobs and the employer to ensure job satisfaction and job retention. On average, 180 consumers with disabilities are assisted in acquiring employment each year.

The referral process is easy! Individuals or organizations can call the vocational evaluation department at Easter Seals Central Alabama directly or individuals with a documented disability can contact the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services at (334) 288-0220.
