Easter Seals Central Alabama provides classroom skills and “hands-on-training” to prepare persons with disabilities for employment.
Job readiness classes teach the following skills:
- Interviewing
- Resume preparation
- Job finding
- Job retention
- Team building and getting along with others
- Securing proper work documents
- Work ethics
“Hands-on” training may also include subsidized on the job training opportunities located at work sites in the community or in-center. These OJT positions allow the consumer to work up to 160 hours earning a training wage in a real job setting. This kind of training along with other in-center “hands-on” training teaches work values such as:
- Punctuality
- Attention to details
- Following supervision
- Accepting constructive criticism
- Working as part of a team
